Messages from Gaza Now #3
P21 Gallery at 7pm on Tuesday 5th December 2023
21-27 Chalton Street, London NW1 1JD
This is the third event at which we will be sharing texts and messages we have received since October 7th from our colleagues and friends in Gaza. Our Messages from Gaza Now events on Tuesday 24th October and Tuesday 7th November offered us a chance to breathe into the experiences of Palestinians during this period of heightened genocidal violence.
“Cry, baby, cry my son, no shame, cry as much as you want, cry as much as you were afraid, cry until your cries reach the sky or reach a moving heart somewhere in this mad world!”
Hossam Madhoun’s accounts tell the whole story of the evacuation, the impact of the ‘complete siege’, the bombing, the effort to help neighbours and displaced people, the shortages and the confrontation with human suffering. This will be the first comprehensive reading of this testimony.
THANK YOU to our wonderful readers: Ruth Lass, Laura Percival, Laila Alj, Iante Roach, Harriet Walter, Giovanni Felicioni, Nadia Nadif, Hilary Dawson, Waleed Elgadi, Maysoon Pachachi, Joe Rizzo Naudi, Lara Salwalha, Zainab Hasan, Sara Masri, Charles Furness, Zia Ahmed, Enyi Okoronkwo, Saeed Taji Farouky, Sofia Aser, Kwame Odoom, Sama Rantisi, Danusia Samal. We are hoping they will all be with us at this event.
INTERNATIONAL CALL OUT! We now have a complete translation of the MESSAGES in French, most of them in Spanish, Italian and some of them in German. We have plans for translations in Turkish and Arabic. Please contact us if you can help this international distribution and if there is the possibility of events based on the MESSAGES. They are available here: http://aztheatre.org.uk/another-day-messages-from-gaza-now/
Az Theatre and Theatre for Everybody have been in creative partnership since 2009. We were in the process of developing a new stage of our collaboration called AUGUST 9th PROJECT (the date in 2018 when the Israeli armed forces destroyed the Al Mishal Cultural Centre).
We aim to live stream this event. Please contact us on info@aztheatre.org.uk
